28th International Symposium on Symbolic and Numeric Algorithms for Scientific Computing

September 14-17, Timișoara, România

NSAI – Special Session for Neuro-Symbolic Artificial Intelligence

(supported by the project “Romanian Hub for Artificial Intelligence -HRIA”, Smart Growth, Digitization and Financial Instruments Program, MySMIS no. 351416)

AIM

This special session focuses on recent advances in Neuro-Symbolic Artificial Intelligence (NSAI), with a particular emphasis on neuro-symbolic models such as Logic Tensor Networks (LTN), DeepProbLog and related frameworks that integrate symbolic reasoning with deep learning. These approaches aim to improve the training, generalization, and interpretability of neural networks by incorporating logical constraints, structured knowledge, and reasoning capabilities. The motivation of this session is to advance the connections between statistical learning and symbolic reasoning, which is a central theme aligned with SYNASC’s focus on symbolic and numeric computation. Neuro-symbolic approaches offer a promising direction for building more reliable, interpretable, and data-efficient AI systems, making this topic relevant to the SYNASC audience.

TOPICS OF INTEREST INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Neuro-symbolic intelligent agents and networked systems
  • Applications in medicine, fault diagnostics and computer vision
  • Neuro-symbolic methods for planning and program synthesis
  • Integration with large language models
  • Symbolic knowledge extraction and injection
  • Trustworthy AI (explainability, fairness, robustness)
  • Symbolic regression and inductive logic programming
  • Training deep neural networks with logical constraints (e.g., LTN, differentiable logic)
  • Compositional concept learning, variable binding, and relational reasoning
  • Neuro-Symbolic Prediction via Physiology-Constrained Learning
