The aim of this workshop is to facilitate discussion of the latest achievements in Geoinformatics as well as applications of geospatial technologies and methods in various fields, such as Geosciences, Environmental sciences, Archeology etc. The workshop particularly promotes collaboration between computer scientists and geoscientists to address scientific and practical challenges in this field. The workshop welcomes submissions of original, high-quality papers reporting on experiments, models or systems that have been or are being implemented. We encourage participation of the young scientists and PhD students.

Topics

Specific topics of this workshop include, but are not limited to, the following:

+ Acquisition of geospatial data
+ Spatial analysis
+ Simulation, prediction, forecasting
+ Location-based services
+ Satellite image analysis
+ Change detection and monitoring
+ High Performance Computing for geospatial data

In the frame of the Geoinformatics Workshop, ESRI Romania will present two tutorials:

Tutorial 1: Dynamic Processing of satellite imagery in the ArcGIS Environment

This tutorial will be focused around the advanced capabilities of the ArcGIS Platform to process satellite imagery (Landsat, Sentinel-2, MODIS, etc.). We will demonstrate the advantages of visualizing, storage and processing on the fly imagery collections, using raster functions that prevent duplication of data, preserve image meta-data, have high performance, and can be integrated in complex processing flows for applications in specific domains.

Tutorial 2: Apps for the fiels – Take GIS to the field and back!

Create the data that matters to your organization, from damage reports and service requests to places of historical interest. Easily include images and videos, and share your work. This tutorial will focus on familiarizing participants with the mobile GIS applications Collector for ArcGIS and Survey123. The workflow will concentrate on preparing the data for publishing, making it available for the users in the field and using it in order to collect new data. The new collected data will also serve as a start base for building web apps.

Paper Submission

We invite submissions in the form of:

+ research papers,
+ extended abstracts (400 words)

Papers of up to 8 pages (in CPS Conference Style) should be electronically submitted through EasyChair.

Research papers must contain original research results not submitted and not published elsewhere. Authors who want to present work in progress or discuss new aspects or a survey of their older research results at the workshop are welcome to submit an extended abstract (up to 4 pages). Papers will be refereed and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit and relevance to the Workshop topics

Publication

Extended/revised versions of the best papers presented at the workshop will be included in the SYNASC post-proceedings published by the Conference Publishing Services. Other publishing opportunities in journals will be announced later.

Program Committee

+ Ştefan CONSTANTINESCU, Romania
+ Lucian DRĂGUŢ, West University of Timisoara, Romania
+ Alexandru IMBROANE, Romania
+ Anisoara Irimescu, National Meteorological Administration, Romania
+ Gabriel IUHASZ, West University of Timisoara, Romania
+ Hermann KLUG, University of Salzburg, Austria
+ Bogdan MIHAI, University of Bucharest, Romania
+ Marian NEAGUL, West University of Timisoara, Romania
+ Arnt-Borre Salberg, Norwegian Computing Center, Norway
+ Marcel TOROK-OANCE, West University of Timișoara, Romania

+ Cristian VASILE, ESRI Romania

+ Daniela ZAHARIE, West University of Timisoara, Romania

Local Workshop organizers

+ Gabriel IUHASZ – West University of Timisoara, Romania, iuhasz.gabriel at e-uvt.ro
+ Liviu OANĂ – West University of Timisoara, Romania, liviu.oana88 at gmail.com

3rd Workshop on Geoinformatics in the framework of SYNASC 2017 19th International Symposium on Symbolic and Numeric Algorithms for Scientific Computing Timisoara, Romania September 21-24, 2017 Workshop deadlines + Submission of papers: July 25, 2017 (hard deadline) + Notification of acceptance: August 10, 2017 + Registration: September 1, 2017 + Final paper: September 1, 2017 […]

["post-1366","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
